Welcome to RUF @ UNC!

Welcome to RUF at UNC. RUF is a Christian fellowship where, "you're never so bad you're beyond the reach of God's grace, and you're never so good you're beyond the need of God's grace." Regardless of your beliefs or doubts, RUF is a place for you to explore Christianity and grow in your understanding of who Jesus is and what it means to follow him in community with other students. RUF has a Large Group meeting which meets every Tuesday night @ 8pm in Hamilton 100 and we offer many different Small Groups that meet throughout the week. We also host social events and service opportunities. Check out our calendar, and the announcements below to see what is happening.

If you've ever wondered, "What is RUF?" we have a new video about who we are and what we hope to see done here in Chapel Hill.

RUF Staff Training Video

RUF Campus Ministers attend a week of training twice a year, once in July and once in December. Daniel just got back from the December training, where they got to hear from renowned author and PCA pastor Tim Keller. The video below catches some of the highlights:

Large Group this Spring!

This semester we will be working through 1-2 Samuel, studying the Life of David. David is one of the great epic characters of the Bible; a hero who lived a life full of ups and downs, joy and grief, victory and defeat, love and sin, beauty and destruction. David was a poet, a friend, a lover, a warrior, and a king. However, like most great heroes, David had tragic flaws. He was also an adulterer and a murderer. And yet Samuel tells us he was, "a man after God's own heart." David was human, and in his humanity he had a vibrant walk with His God. Come and join us this semester as we look at the life of David and learn what it means to be a human fully alive in a relationship with God. David's is a story of a King and a Kingdom. This semester, we are going to enter into this story together, and let it become our own. For as much as the story of David is one of the most prominent of antiquity, it is also a story about us, today. It is a story about our King, and His Kingdom.

When: Tuesdays at 8:00pm (First Large Group is January 10th)
Where: Hamilton 100

Hey Freshmen!

Welcome to Chapel Hill! We know stuff is kind of crazy right now, but we're glad you are here! We also know that you are being exposed to new stuff right and left, some of which is great, and some of which may require more thought. We know people are asking hard questions like,

  1. "Can you really trust the Bible?"
  2. "Was Jesus really who He claimed to be?"
  3. "Are cargo shorts a viable option for casual wear?"*
The gre at news is that your professor, friend, or roommate is not the first person to ask these questions and the church has had some time to think on these questions- like 2,000 years- and has come up with some pretty good answers (Well not that last one- the jury is still out).

On a serious note, we want to help you think through some of these things as you pursue your college degree. The last thing we want to do is give you something else to read, however, we do want to provide you with some resources, in case you want to look into it further. Hence, the Freshmen Reader! It's a pretty neat resource, if you get a chance to check it out.

*RUF has no official theological stance on cargo shorts as casual wear.
